Io Shirai’s WWE contract is slated to expire next month, and she has yet to sign a new deal.
Dave Meltzer noted that she was “pretty much gone” from WWE. However, Io later took to Twitter to express her frustration with the rumors by writing, “Rumors [vomiting emoji].”
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that people close to her believe Shirai would re-sign with WWE if she gets a deal where she can work on the main roster. Japan is still not off the table, but those close to STARDOM did not indicate she was coming back.
STARDOM has strong financial backing from Bushiroad, the parent company of New Japan Pro Wrestling.
