Major Backstage WWE Brand Split Updates – Cena & Styles To SD?, Reigns/Rollins To RAW?

Source: The Wrestling Observer

Here are the latest details on the upcoming WWE brand split, courtesy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Of course, nothing is set in stone as WWE creative plans are constantly changing on a daily basis.

Roman Reigns is expected to lead the RAW brand while John Cena will head over to the WWE SmackDown brand when the show goes live on Tuesday nights. Reigns would be the top babyface on RAW, feuding with the top heel who would be Seth Rollins. Of course, the heel and babyface roles between the two could change if WWE decides to go that route.

AJ Styles would be the top heel of the WWE SmackDown brand, feuding with the top babyface in John Cena.

When WWE SmackDown goes live and moves to Tuesday nights on July 19th, the show is expected to receive a huge push with lots of promotion on RAW. The idea is that by sending John Cena over to WWE SmackDown, it will help to boost the show’s image as more than a secondary brand within the company. As previously reported here on eWrestlingNews.com, the USA Network hasn’t been happy with the performance of both WWE shows this year. The ratings are at all-time lows and the network is having trouble selling advertising space.

Also, a second World Title is expected to be created for whichever brand the current champion doesn’t end up on. It remains to be seen where the WWE Tag-Team and Women’s Divisions as well as the Intercontinental and United States titles wind up.
