Mick Foley Says CM Punk “Lifted People’s Games”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has shared some positive comments about CM Punk amid rumors of his departure from AEW.

Punk has been suspended from AEW since the All Out fight and it is believed the promotion will buy out the remainder of his contract.

Speaking on the latest Foley is Pod, Mick had good words to say about Punk, recalling the former AEW World Champion helping him in 2012, when Mick felt he was struggling on the mic.

“In large part because of Punk, I start to regain my sense of confidence in my ability to cut promos.”

Foley said a particular segment, in which he defended Jerry Lawler (shortly after his heart attack) from taunts by Punk and Paul Heyman, helped him immensely.

When co-host Conrad Thompson pointed out that it is refreshing to hear positive words about Punk, Foley responded.

“It’s not in fashion right now, but you need to point out the fact that he lifted people’s games in ways you wouldn’t expect.”

AEW is reportedly concerned that Punk will return to WWE if he is released from their promotion and are trying to negotiate a non-compete clause.
