Last month, MJF and AEW President Tony Khan had a heated discussion as Khan wasn’t happy with MJF doing an interview with Ariel Helwani and not clearing it with AEW PR first.
Fightful Select reported today that MJF is not happy about his AEW deal and the pay scale. The discussion with Khan left him soured on many things.
MJF has reportedly weighed the idea of going to WWE when his contract expires in 2024 and is currently leaning towards signing with the promotion. It should be noted that this has nothing to do with him keeping kayfabe as he’s always done in public.
MJF has made it well known to people backstage in AEW and to Tony Khan himself that he’s not happy with his current deal. Of course, he’s still got two years left on his AEW contract so things could change if the offer is right when the time comes.
There have been open-ended mentions of MJF possibly getting an extension with AEW, but some in the All Elite promotion don’t believe the two sides are as close as they were prior to the reported discussion.
