MJF Promo Didn’t Go According To Plan, Dropping The F-Bomb

As many of you know by now, MJF cut an infamous promo on Dynamite where he tore down Tony Khan and the AEW brand, similar to how CM Punk cut his pipebomb promo in WWE back in 2011. The promo ended with MJF begging Khan to fire him and release from him his contract before 2024, as MJF proceeded to drop the F-Bomb. His microphone was cut off and the show went to a commercial break.

During the break, CM Punk came down to ringside to chase MJF out of the ring.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, the original plan was to have the microphone cut out halfway through MJF’s promo and to really push the “shoot” element beforehand. However, the promo ran for around 7-8 minutes and went in a different direction. With MJF running down the ex-WWE guys and gals who have joined AEW in recent months, this seems to have put the AEW brand in a negative light. This is in contrast to how the nWo would put down WCW in the 90s and get a babyface pop for it, despite being the heel faction.
