Cody will defend the TNT Championship against Private Party’s Marc Quen on next Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It turns out that this was not the original opponent for Rhodes.
Instead, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the planned match was Cody vs. Rey Fenix, but AEW found out that Fenix wouldn’t be ready in time due to injuries. Fenix is said to be ‘fine’ and will be back ‘very soon’.
Thus, Dynamite had to be edited to remove all references to Fenix. However, one reference made air.
