As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, AEW Superstar Anthony Ogogo has been in a war of words with ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham on Twitter. According to reports, there is some heat on Ogogo backstage in AEW.
Earlier this month, Ogogo took to Twitter and took a shot at Gresham after the latter won the ROH World Championship at Final Battle. Ogogo said,
“Super cute that Jonathan Gresham was the last ever ROH Champ, kinda reminds me when Hornswoggle was the last ever cruiserweight champ. Congrats kiddo.”
Following his initial post on Twitter, Ogogo continued on with his tweets and took several shots at Jordynne Grace, who is married to Gresham.
According to a report from Fightful, several members of the AEW roster didn’t look favorably on Ogogo’s comments, especially once Gresham and Grace noted that they weren’t part of some angle between the three.
One AEW talent said he didn’t believe Ogogo’s comments were serious and noted that he was simply trying to start an angle with Gresham as he was about to become a free agent. When Gresham made it well known that he wasn’t in on it, the talent said Ogogo should have left it there. As of this writing, there is no word on if anyone in AEW has spoken directly with Ogogo about it, but things seem to have cooled off for the time being. It should also be noted that Ogogo doesn’t have a substantial amount of heat on him.
Additionally, Gresham is said to be well-respected in the industry and would more than likely give some of his close friends a heads up if someone was going to try to work an angle with him. Several other talents say they prefer not being brought into situations like this on social media so that they can have genuine reactions and responses. Those close to Gresham say he’ll handle the situation in person to person.
