Tama Tonga is currently working with New Japan Pro Wrestling without a contract.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Tonga has been working without a contract for several months now and is technically a free agent.
WWE was interested in signing Tonga and there were even some tentative creative ideas pitched. That all changed when WWE started its “hiring freeze” earlier this year. Once that began, the company failed to maintain any contact with him.
At the recent NJPW Wrestling Dontaku event, Tonga lost the NEVER Openweight Championship to David Finlay and was stretchered out.
