Screenwriter Talks Benoit Biopic, ROH Sale, Japan

— Screenwriter Sarah Coulter recently spoke to about the upcoming film Crossface, about Chris Benoit. Check out the highlights:

On the direction of the film: “There are a lot of unknowns about that weekend [when the murders/suicide took place], which is probably why so many people have tried to fill in the blanks with conspiracy theories. Chris Benoit was behind the murders, but we still wanted to touch on several of those theories.”

On who will be portrayed in the movie: “Eddie [Guerrero] is obviously very important to the story. Triple H, Kurt Angle, they’re all there, but it’s early and things can still change.”

On whether it’s a biopic or not: “Chris had a remarkable career. You take a look at his time in Japan and with Stu Hart, and you realize that you’d need more than one movie to tell the entire Chris Benoit story. Ultimately, it’s about the 2007 murders/suicide, so we had to pick and choose the right moments in Chris’ career that may have been factors in his downfall.”

— An earthquake that measured 7.0 on the Richter scale hit eastern Japan, three days before New Japan’s annual Tokyo Dome show. CNN is reporting that the quake, which was centered 300 miles south-southwest of Tokyo, has no threat of a tsunami. Karl Anderson tweeted about the quake:

Earthquake time! I forgot how those things feel. I just thought I was getting dizzy then realized the house was shaking.

His tag team partner Giant Bernard also tweeted:

My family just witnessed their first earthquake in Japan. Wife is freaked out. My daughter wants more.

At this time, the show’s status has not been affected by the quake.
