Sonjay Dutt Left WWE To Be More Than “Just A Match Producer”

Sonjay Dutt’s desire to be more than “just a match producer” led to him parting ways with WWE last year.

Dutt, once a staple of TNA/Impact Wrestling, joined WWE in January 2019 and would serve as a producer until June 2021.

Speaking on The Sessions, Dutt told Renee Paquette that he believed he could do more than operate behind the scenes, but felt WWE would not give him an opportunity. He said,

“In WWE I was just a match producer, and that is kind of what WWE is where, ‘Okay, this is your job,’ which kind of was part of the reason why I wanted to quit. I was like, ‘Look, I know in my heart of hearts I can do more than just be a match producer,’ because before WWE I was at Impact, and what you see now I did at Impact.”

A day after leaving WWE, Dutt signed with AEW as a producer but also makes appearances on screen alongside Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh.
