Steve Austin came back to the ring for one more match at WWE WrestleMania 38 (Night One), where he beat Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred Match with the Stunner. On the second night, Austin gave Stunners to Austin Theory, Pat McAfee, and Vince McMahon.
As previously reported, WrestleVotes noted that the belief is that Austin would be open to wrestling again. The Twitter account did explain that they hadn’t heard whether Austin would be involved at WrestleMania 39 next year or if he would be wrestling.
The Vince McMahon regime had hoped for Austin to return to do another match, but the Triple H regime had actually presented an offer for Austin to do so, according to today’s Fightful Select article.
Sources told them that they weren’t sure whether that meant for a match in Saudi Arabia, WrestleMania, or somewhere else, but there was an offer on the table.
It was added that one source indicated that initially, Austin and WWE were far apart on the terms of the deal.
