AEW has confirmed that Sting will be working his first match with the company at next month’s Revolution pay-per-view event. The former WWE and WCW Superstar will be teaming up with Darby Allin to face Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a Street Fight. Obviously, the Street Fight stipulation is a way for Sting to still be able to compete but not have to put on an in-ring clinic at his age. The tag-team match will also allow for Darby to take many of the bigger bumps.
As noted, this will mark Sting’s first match in AEW. He had previously announced his retirement in 2016 at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony but he wasn’t happy with the way he was being booked by WWE at the time.
AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view event will take place on February 27th.
