Mark Calaway has said he regrets getting married while he was on the road with WWE.

Calaway, better known as The Undertaker married his partner Michelle McCool in an open-air ceremony on June 26, 2010 in Houston, Texas.

Speaking to the True Geordie podcast, the Deadman spoke about his first two marriages, the first to Jodi Lynn that ended in 1999 and the second to Sara Calway that ended in 2007:

Undertaker said that being an active performer with WWE at the time meant he was unable to appreciate his marriage early on:

“I wasn’t tuned in to my wife at the time. Probably the biggest negative aspect was my oldest son, I missed him growing up. I wish I could have been a better man and figured that out.

“My relationship with my kids, my older kids, they had to pay a sacrifice for me to do and become what I am. You can look back, you learn from your mistakes. I was fortunate enough that I remarried, Michelle and I, now we have young children. So I was blessed enough to get a second chance to be a dad and be a husband. But I had no business being married while trying to build this character and this legacy.”

The Undertaker will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1, 2022.
