Comedian Tom Segura recently took to his podcast to look back on his infamous 2020 rant about professional wrestling. The rant included some insults towards the Special Olympics, receiving backlash from wrestlers such as Dolph Ziggler, Abyss, Baron Corbin, Ricochet, and others.
At the time, he said,
“So many guys love wrestling. I think wrestling is for f**king r***rds. I think it is the f**king stupidest s**t, and I think you’re a f**king tool if you’re like, ‘Hey man, it’s not fake.’ It’s f**king fake and you’re a f**king idiot. They’re not real fights… Yeah, so is the Special Olympics [fun]. It’s fun to go to. But it’s not real, it’s not a real competition.”
Segura noted on a recent episode of his podcast, looking back on the rant, that he talked to AEW about doing something together, but talks never evolved.
“Yeah, I said stuff that wasn’t nice … I was actually talking to people at AEW. I was talking to them. That’s the people that own the Jags, right? That’s who I was talking to for a minute. It just kind of didn’t evolve.
I didn’t say anything crazy. I said, ‘Wrestling is for r***rds.'”
