Becky Lynch noted in a recent interview that she saw Vince McMahon, at 74-years-old, demonstrate a dive off a tower for someone to show how it should be done:
I watched him the other day demonstrate falling off a tower at 74-years-old without a bother, brushing his shoulders off and standing up again.
According to a report from Fightful, McMahon was actually demonstrating the dive for Rob Gronkowski at WrestleMania to show that it was safe. He won the WWE 24/7 Championship with a similar move at WrestleMania 36. The report adds that Gronkowski was apparently nervous for the stunt, thus prompting McMahon to do it himself to show it was safe.
Gronkowski was reportedly “terrified” for the spot despite having some of NXT’s strongest talent ready to catch him. Even after McMahon’s demonstration, it took a bit to convince Gronkowski to do it. As for the low angle, the report suggests production decided on that to make it look better because Gronk had his knees bent and fell off “like a toddler jumping into the pool for the first time.”
