A planned ‘funeral segment’ scheduled for this week’s episode of WWE NXT was scrapped immediately after news broke of the death of Jay Briscoe.
Briscoe, 38, died yesterday evening in a car accident near his home in Laurel, Delaware.
Sean Ross Sapp reports that last night’s episode of WWE NXT would have seen NXT Tag Team Champions The New Day hold a ‘funeral’ for Pretty Deadly’s title shot.
There was a planned NXT segment tonight where New Day would hold a "funeral" for Pretty Deadly's title shot. When word of Jay Briscoe's passing emerged, New Day and Shawn Michaels nixed the segment, and Michaels added the Vic Joseph tribute of Briscoe to the show.

During WWE NXT, commentator Vic Joseph addressed Briscoe’s death alongside Booker T and offered condolences to those who knew Jay.
