During Sunday night’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames event, it was announced that a “New Year’s Evil” episode of WWE NXT will take place on Wednesday, January 6th. This will be a regular NXT broadcast but it’ll be using that theme. It remains to be seen how or if AEW will counter this.
The last NXT episode with an official theme was Halloween Havoc back in October. For what it’s worth, the New Year’s Evil theme is very similar to a special episode of WCW Nitro that aired on December 27th, 1999.
