As many of you know by now, WWE will be holding their WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view event at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The show will air over the course of two days on April 10th and 11th. WrestleMania 37 will mark the first time fans have been in attendance at a WWE live event in thirteen months. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is watching how this year’s Super Bowl will go. The Super Bowl will be held in the same venue and WWE is aiming to have a larger attendance.

It’s already been announced that the NFL will have limited seating for the game. For their home games this year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had around 15,000 fans in attendance. With that being said, WWE will likely do a similar number, but slightly higher than what the Super Bowl draws. Of course, the company always inflates their own attendance numbers anyways. When WWE adds their stage and the fans that will be on the field itself, the show will likely have about 5,000 fewer people than the NFL. WWE has always sent out a press release at WrestleMania and the numbers are always 7,000 to 20,000 higher than the actual attendance.

For what it’s worth, New Japan Pro Wrestling gave numbers that were exaggerated to be lower when Wrestle Kingdom was recently held in the Tokyo Dome. The idea was that they’d look better with smaller numbers due to the pandemic. WWE bragging about having a higher attendance than the Super Bowl may not be reflected well.

WWE is said to want to have 30,000 people in the building for both nights of WrestleMania 37. If the Super Bowl draws more than that, WWE will let more fans in.

While the WrestleMania 37 attendance could be affected by a travel quarantine, the show usually draws 15,000 to 26,000 from the local market itself so that doesn’t appear to be an issue.
