In the most recent edition of his YouTube series, Maven recalled how he once got busted open during a WWE Hardcore Championship match with The Undertaker.
Maven said, “Sometimes we get color and bleed the hard way and my hard way. I mean, maybe a chair, maybe we fall. One time, I was wrestling The Undertaker for the Hardcore Championship. He hits me over the top of the head with a trash can lid. I wasn’t supposed to get color. I wasn’t supposed to bleed. The lid caught me at the top of my head in the right spot. Next thing I know, I’m sitting there bleeding.”
He continued, “Obviously, I wasn’t going to get in trouble for this when I got backstage, because it wasn’t something that I meant to do. Getting color, it’s big, and they don’t want to waste it. They want to make sure if someone’s going to be up there getting color, it was at the right time at the right show.”
Maven was released from his WWE contract in 2005. Following WWE’s move into the PG era, the promotion banned intentional bleeding and fined talents for deliberately getting busted open in matches.
Following Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, it was revealed that Cedric Alexander and Ashante Thee Adonis would be teaming up in pursuit of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships.
