UPDATE x 3: For those who may have missed it on Friday, WWE sent out the following statement on Jack Swagger’s status with the company. Swagger revealed on Chael Sonnen’s podcast that he requested his release from WWE earlier this week. He is already being advertised for an international appearance this month (see below). He hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since January.

The WWE statement said: “Jack Swagger has not been granted a release from his WWE contract. When he is granted his release, Jack Swagger will remain under exclusive contract to WWE for 90 days and will be compensated accordingly during that period.“

UPDATE x 2: WAW in the United Kingdom (the promotion that Paige’s family owns) has announced that Jack Swagger will be working their Norwich show this weekend. As reported earlier, Swagger revealed on Chael Sonnen’s podcast yesterday that he has requested his WWE release.

UPDATE: While he said he has requested his release, Jack Swagger is still with WWE as of right now.

ORIGINAL: Jack Swagger has left WWE. The former World champion revealed during an appearance on Chael Sonnen’s Beyond the Fight podcast that he asked for his release, as he felt he wasn’t getting the proper opportunities, and was granted it. Swagger has been with WWE since 2006 and won the World Championship in 2009.

“As of yesterday, I asked for my release from WWE,” Swagger said. “It’s still kind of an ongoing process right now. Basically, it came down to contract negotiations. We were way off. They didn’t value me at what I thought I was valued at…They weren’t giving me the opportunity to make the full amount of income I could for my family, so when you put it like that … it’s time to go.”

As of now, Swagger is still listed among “Current Superstars” on the WWE.com roster page.
