- SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura (c) defeated Lucha House Party by pinfall.
- Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Ladder Match: Sami Zayn defeated Jeff Hardy (c) and AJ Styles to win the title!
- Drew Gulak pinned R-Truth backstage to win the 24/7 Championship.
- Raw Women’s Championship Match: Asuka (c) defeated Zelina Vega by submission.
- United States Championship Match: Bobby Lashley (c) defeated Apollo Crews by submission.
- Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Profits (c) defeated Angel Garza and Andrade by pinfall.
- SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Asuka defeated Bayley (c) by disqualification.
- WWE Championship Ambulance Match: Drew McIntyre (c) defeated Randy Orton
- Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) defeated Jey Uso when Jimmy Uso threw in the towel.
Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:
Kickoff
- Two matches aren’t happening. No Bayley vs Nikki Cross (good) and no women’s tag title match. For some reason, they’re saying they’ll address the tag title match tomorrow on Raw instead of just doing it now. That’s lame. Just say it’s COVID and don’t try to turn that into an angle for a hook to watch Raw.
- R-Truth is “flipping for gold” like an old frontiersman. Not his best bit, but hey, at least the 24/7 title made an appearance.
- Smart move having Kalisto and Lince Dorado as the two members of Lucha House Party in the SmackDown tag title match. If they win, it’s interesting. When they likely lose, it’ll make sense, as they’ve been arguing.
- Not much on my mind about the kickoff match. That went about as well as I had expected, after having seen this match a number of times already. Once you’ve seen it 10 times, the 11th time isn’t worth getting too invested in. Now, can we get new tag title designs?
Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match
- Sami Zayn is bouncing around tonight like he’s made out of rubber.
- Is there a problem with Zayn, where Styles was supposed to get taken out by him? AJ was just sitting on the ladder waiting for something for a good number of seconds, doing nothing. Curious if that’s the story or if some other miscommunication happened.
- As soon as Jeff Hardy was crawling down that ladder, I said to myself “This isn’t ending well.” It didn’t. Ouch.
- Hardy’s Swanton Bomb onto Zayn was rock solid. Good sound that came from that, too.
- Big fan of Zayn handcuffing Hardy’s ear to a ladder. Awesome!
- What an uneventful title reign for Hardy, now that it’s over. That’s a shame. But hey, I like Zayn, so I guess we’re just going back to the status quo from months ago.
Drew Gulak Wins the 24/7 Championship
- Random backstage moment. Hey, at least as many of the titles as possible are defended tonight, since we’ve gotten a 24/7 title reign. How long before R-Truth wins it back tonight?
Raw Women’s Championship Match
- You know what? I’m a fan of Zelina Vega, but she hasn’t ever looked strong. I figured this would be a quick blowoff, but she’s been booked better than I thought she would be. I’m digging it.
- Yeah, I liked this much more than I had expected.
- Post-match, Vega bows to Asuka and then kicks her when Asuka bowed back. Not a bad moment of heat.
United States Championship Match
- Rematches like these are always harder to keep my attention. Let’s see how these guys manage to circumvent that.
- Sadly…they didn’t keep my attention much at all. WWE’s philosophy of “just do whatever to get content out, even if it’s repetitive” doesn’t work for me.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match
- We’ve seen this specific match (not including singles matches) FIVE times in the past 2 months. I’m not even going to watch it. I’ll be honest. My time is better spent making sure this post is up to date and such. I’m sure I’ll not miss a damn thing.
- Is Garza injured? It seems like the end of the match was botched in a way that often points to WWE ending the match early and not communicating that to Andrade, who thought he should still kick out. Here’s hoping that’s not the case. Then again, if this is WWE’s attempt to drag this out even longer…good lord, I’ll rip my hair out.
R-Truth Wins the 24/7 Championship Back
- There you go. R-Truth was definitely going to win the title back.
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
- Bayley cut a quick promo about having an open challenge to replace Nikki Cross. Asuka answered. I wasn’t expecting that. Then again, that certainly wasn’t the original game plan.
- So how does this end? Bayley gets DQ’ed on purpose, counted out, or Zelina Vega interferes? Asuka’s not winning the title.
- Yup. Bayley uses a steel chair and gets herself disqualified. But hey, at least Sasha Banks is here to attack her.
WWE Championship Ambulance Match
- Big Show interfering (with out a beard, too) was completely unexpected.
- Why wouldn’t Big Show stick around and keep fighting Orton, instead of just being like “meh, good enough” and leaving, though?
- McIntyre Claymore kicking the door off the ambulance was a neat little moment. I’m sure I would have marked out for that a lot when I was a kid.
- Oh hey, Christian makes an appearance. Orton’s running the gauntlet, I guess. That explains the Big Show absence to a certain extent. Of course, Christian just booked it after a few seconds, too, though.
- Next up is HBK. Always good to see Shawn Michaels.
- Man, I’m actually getting nervous Orton’s winning the title here. Good job, guys. I’m hooked.
- Yay, McIntyre retains! I was hoping that would be the case. Orton’s awesome and arguably the top guy this year, all things considered, so I’d be cool with him as champion, but I wasn’t so sure WWE would have what it takes to make Drew bounce back.
- Very surprised there wasn’t any RETRIBUTION interference.
- Nature Boy driving away the ambulance is a funny little touch.
Universal Championship Match
- Man, that video package was good. I’m loving this feud. It’s such a B-level thing, but it’s so good.
- Agree or disagree: Roman Reigns without the vest is a good decision, but he needs different pants. Having the same pants is a little bland. They should have some more flair to them—maybe more of a tribal pattern to them. Just not anything flashy.
- “How you gonna be the chief if you can’t stay on the island?” – Loooooooved that trash talk.
- I’m digging how this is an oddly competitive match, too. This is awesome. Roman looks like a real jerk and Jey looks like he’s putting up the biggest fight he possibly can.
- Major props to the end of this match being Jimmy Uso throwing in the towel. What an awesome way for Reigns to look great and for Jey to keep his dignity. Loved this.
