WWE RAW (10/2/2023)

We open the show with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler fighting their way to the ring. Raquel Rodriguez makes her way down, hits Shayna, but is then blindsided by Nia. Rhea Ripley returns! She quickly jumps in the ring takes down Nia. Security rush in to split them up, and while Ripley takes some of them out, it’s enough to separate the four. Mami orders Judgment Day to the ring. Damian Priest and Dominik show up, but there is no Finn Balor.

She says there needs to be some plans so things don’t go down for the Judgment Day. Ripley says she has been away two weeks and look at what happened. She left the responsibility to Priest, and he let her down. Finn is injuried, Priest isn’t cleared, and he wasn’t there to back up Dominik, so he lost the NXT North American title. What’s he going to do about it?

Cody and Jey are coming for the titles, but when push comes to shove, Priest will push harder. Screw Cody. Screw Jey Uso. And the talks of the Judgment Day falling apart? Screw that too. He has his titles and his contract. He’s not pointing fingers, but where is Dom Dom’s title? Mami says tomorrow night, he has a rematch against Trick Williams. If he doesn’t come back with the championship, don’t bother coming home.

Jey Uso pops up to say a few words to the Judgment Day. He welcomes back Miss Rhea Ripley. Priest says he is sick of hearing him talk. Dominik tells Damian to step back because he isn’t cleared. He’s got this. Jey superkicks him, and JD McDonagh appears from nowhere to help Dom. Just as Priest is about to enter the ring, Cody Rhodes arrives to save the day. He & Jey Uso hold the ring once again. Adam Pearce is on hand to announce that Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso will face Damian Priest & Finn Balor at Fast Lane for the tag team titles.

#1. Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci vs. Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable & Otis (w/ Maxxine Dupri) – Winners: Imperium

Tegan Nox accepts the news that Becky Lynch isn’t cleared to wrestle tonight. Chelsea Green charms in and says she doesn’t believe Nox is championship material. Tegan has an idea. How about she faces Chelsea tonight, to see if she really is championship material? Adam Pearce accepts, so Green goes off to complain to upper management.

#2. Bronson Reed vs. Cedric Alexander – Winner: Bronson Reed with Tsunami

Gunther and Tommaso Ciampa have a contract signing for their Intercontinental Championship match. Ciampa says Gunther gets everything handed to him, while guys like him have to scratch and claw to earn every bit of what they get. He dreamed about this moment his entire life, and he passionately says he will do everything in his power to leave as the Intercontinental Champion.

Gunther’s demeanor tells us he’s not taking Ciampa seriously. He insults Ciampa’s presentation. He says it is noble who and what he is fighting for, but to him, the most important thing in his life is the Intercontinental Championship. Ciampa interrupts him, so Gunther tells him not to do that. He will regret doing that. Ciampa says we don’t need to wait for next week, or Fast Lane. We could do this tonight if he is so confident. Gunther says he should prove it. He signs the contract, and Adam Pearce says this will happen tonight.

Gunther tries to cheap shot Ciampa, but he is wise to it and fires back. He briefly locks in the Sicilian Stretch, but Gunther escapes.

#3. Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston) vs. Ivar (w/ Valhalla) – Winner: Xavier Woods

Seth Rollins and Michael Cole are in the ring. Cole says he gave him a bunch of nicknames over the years, but it looks like he is a puppet. Rollins doesn’t like the sound of that. Cole asks why would he put himself through this? The champion responds by saying he can’t put it in to words. He asks Cole how long he has been at the commentary desk. 26 years. And he has missed only 2 shows in 26 years.

He is addicted to this, and he loves it. That’s what it is like for Seth. He needs it. He loves it. There is a duty to the fans. This ring has given him everything. Put a roof over his head, puts food on his table. How he met his wife and got a baby girl. When he is World Champion, all that responsibility is amplified. If that takes him to Fast Lane, and it is his last ride after his back gives out, it doesn’t matter much. What matters is he left it all in the ring. Because then he would fulfilled his responsibility and been a good example to his daughter. That’s the best reason he got. It’s just a feeling. It feels right.

Shinsuke Nakamura appears on the titantron. He asks if he is a liar. If he made all this up for sympathy. Nakamura strikes Rollins from behind and hits him with the Kinshasa. When Seth gets up, Nakamura hits him repeatedly in the back with a steel chair. He repeats this til Seth Rollins stays down for a count of ten.

#4. Tegan Nox vs. Chelsea Green (w/ Piper Niven) – Winner: Tegan Nox with an assist by Natalya

Drew McIntyre won’t explain a damn thing to anyone. The only people he answers to are his fans. The truth is, he is going to stop being a savior. He has been doing it for years and is done with it. Nobody has been stepping up, so they are a bunch of hypocrites, except for Cody Rhodes. Forgiving Jey Uso is weakness. It isn’t strength. Here comes The Miz, because this was supposed to happen on Miz TV before it was cancelled.

The Miz says a bunch of things, so Drew tells him to shut up. He was trying to stand up for him. How about he embraces who he really is? Drew and the fans tell him to shut up. He could go and beat up Seth Rollins or Jey Uso, but that’s not how he operates. Instead, he racks up the wins and earns his opportunities. Drew challenges Miz to a match so he get another “W”, but it is declined because they aren’t dressed for it. Miz backtracks when Drew undresses to get match ready. As McIntyre turns, The Miz blindsides him, which angers the Scotsman. A fight breaks out, and a few referees appear to get between them.

When we come back from commercial break, this match between Drew McIntyre and The Miz has been made official.

#5. Drew McIntyre vs. The Miz – Winner: Drew McIntyre (after smashing The Miz’s head in to an exposed turnbuckle)

The new NXT North American Champion Trick Williams introduces himself. Tomorrow, he will be defending it against Dirty Dom. Speaking of which, Judgment Day show up to tell him they are coming to NXT to take back Dominik’s title.

Cody Rhodes think the Judgment Day have backed themselves in to this fight. He hears they will be at SmackDown this Friday, and so will he and Jey Uso. Then, they will march to Fast Lane and win the tag team titles.

#6. [Intercontinental Championship] Gunther (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa – Winner: Gunther via Sleeper Hold Submission after two Powerbombs

The rest of Imperium beat down on Ciampa until a familiar face shows up. Johnny Gargano! DIY is back together. The show ends before we can see them take out Ludwig Kaiser.
