WWE RAW (3/25/2024)

Cody Rhodes opens the show. Roman Reigns has said a lot tonight. He gets a cheap pop for Pat McAfee and Michael Cole. Roman has previously called Cody a politician. He would double down and say he was making promises he couldn’t keep. This city knows more than any other that when he makes a promise, he keeps it. He has been attending fans’ bachelor parties, kid’s parties, and he got the children’s wrestling club to both nights of WrestleMania. Cody is always here and talks like he does because the champion isn’t here.

Clearly, he respects the Tribal Chief, but he screwed him out of his dream, and therefore hates his guts. Reigns must hate him, too, because he and The Rock can’t have this wankfest that they wanted at WrestleMania. Rhodes asks the fans for something back. Heading in to the biggest tag team match, will they ride with him? And on April 7th against Roman Reigns, will they fight with him? Cody asks the fans to point to the WrestleMania sign with him. The Rock appears!

There is a long stare down. He puts his hands behind his back, says something to Cody without a microphone, and then walks away. After the commercials, Jackie Redmond asks The Rock what he said, and he says to ask Cody Rhodes.

#1. Ricochet vs. JD McDonagh (w/ Dominik Mysterio) – Winner: Ricochet

CM Punk is up next. He says he will be at WrestleMania. His elbow in not 100%, and he isn’t medically cleared, but his mouth works. Not only are people asking, they are suggesting things for him to do at WrestleMania. If this was ten years ago, he would think that was beneath him, but now he just wants to be in front of the people. Maybe he could be a special guest referee for a certain title match?

A lot of people talk about him, just like Pat McAfee. He had a guest on his show called Roman Reigns. He feels he and Roman will meet real soon. Punk and Rollins go way back, but they don’t see eye-to-eye. Someone who hasn’t talked about him is The Rock. He’d like to think that ten years ago he realized his arms were just too short to box with God. And then there’s Drew McIntyre. He handles his business live and in person. Drew McIntyre makes his entrance and stands on the stage with a microphone. Punk tells him to get his bitch ass in the ring.

McIntyre reminds Punk of what happened the last time they were in the ring. This is divine intervention. He never drinks or does drugs, but he spends all of his time in rehab. McIntyre doesn’t hate him, because he completes him. When he trains or struggles, he thinks about CM Punk, because he is his muse. McIntyre wants Punk to have a front row seat at WrestleMania, because he wants to be in position, but McIntyre has always been the chosen one. CM Punk asks who chose him? Was it the people? Or someone else? McIntyre says he should be a guest commentator to watch when he wins the World Championship.

Seth Rollins graces Chicago with his presence. There is a brief stare down between him and Punk. Welcome to Monday Night Rollins. Now we know whose show this is, if the children are done. When will these two moronic trolls figure out that they can’t affect the World Championship match? Rollins asks the Chicago fans if they want to see CM Punk on commentary for their match. The crowd chants “referee”, but Punk admits he probably couldn’t be fair with these two dips**ts. Seth Rollins tells Punk he doesn’t think about him at all. He is a nonfactor. The funny thing is that Punk needs him to have a moment at WrestleMania. His commentating is as close to the World Championship as he will get. All he needs is for him to stay out of his way.

CM Punk says he will take everything about them, and after ten years away from this company, he will finally make them interesting. Drew McIntyre doesn’t want him to get the last word, so he insults Punk as he gets in the ring, but this backfires, as Seth Rollins surprises him with a kick and a curb stomp.

#2. Ivy Nile (w/ Maxxine Dupri) vs. Candice LeRae (w/ Indi Hartwell) – Winner: LeRae while using the rope for leverage

While R-Truth lets The New Day and “DX” know they have a match tonight, Drew McIntyre can be seen talking to Paul Heyman in the background. The Awesome Truth is on commentary for the next match.

#3. The New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods vs. DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano – Winners: No Contest

Judgment Day rushes the ring and destroys everyone, including Awesome Truth.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes says he can’t repeat what The Rock said, but it is a promise he cannot keep.

#4. Andrade vs. Giovanni Vinci – Winner: Andrade

We have an encounter between Rhea Ripley (w/ Dominik) and Becky Lynch in the ring. Becky questions why Rhea does not wrestle every week. The champ says all she has to do is post a video and the fans eat it up. She doesn’t need to prove herself. Becky says a champion isn’t about posting a video of her arse to get attention, it’s about busting her arse in the ring.

Ripley says Lynch is a survivor, but she is also a cockroach. She is really hard to kill, but it is not impossible. Rhea wants to leave her alive so she can sit on her couch next to her daughter and listen to her call her “Mami”. Becky says if she says anything else about her daughter, it will be the last thing she says. This isn’t a joke to her. There is nothing respectful about Ripley. After WrestleMania, none of them will be the same again. Dominik tries to back Rhea away, but Becky provokes him in to a straight punch to the jaw. A fight breaks out between them. Officials arrive to split them up.

#5. Sami Zayn vs. Bronson Reed – Winner: Bronson Reed with a Tsunami and light distraction from Gunther

Sami Zayn is irate about letting Gunther get in his head. Chad Gable suggests that he needs to take another approach, and if he wants that, they should talk.

Before the main event, Seth Rollins tells Jey Uso that he & Cody Rhodes have his back.

#6. Jey Uso vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – Winner: Jey Uso

Rollins & Rhodes helped Jey by fending off The Bloodline. The fighting continues backstage. The Rock blindsides Cody! He beats up on Rhodes with whatever he can find. The Rock drags Cody out in to the pouring rain and beats him some more. He sends a message to the world. It didn’t have to be this way, but it is because of Cody. He has a “Mama Rhodes” belt, promising that his blood will be on the belt. The Rock is going to teach Cody about hard times for life. This is the only way.
