We bring you coverage for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on March 15, 2024.
We open the show with The Rock. Usually The Rock would come out here and scorch every city he is in. But tonight, it’s different. This city is different. Years ago, when The Rock started his wrestling career, he started right here in Memphis, Tennessee. Every Saturday morning on Channel 5, and every Monday night at the flea market. Do you remember the name back then? Flex Kavana. With that said, finally The Rock has come back… home. Do you want to have fun tonight? This is the home of the blues and Elvis Presley. Do you want to hear sing a little song?
The Rock sings a little song about Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins. In the song, he rags on Cody’s Mother and how he was a mistake. He insults Seth Rollins by saying his wife is more popular and he will make his title disappear. And finally, he calls the Cody crybabies entitled, and that some of them may have sex, but they have to pay cash. There are some lines you just don’t cross, so stand in line and kiss the ass of the final boss.
After the song, he addresses the slap he got from Cody Rhodes last week. He also brings up how he responded to the slap… by crying. Rock calls out his Mother. She is going to know him in ways she never thought she would. Cody took something from him, so he is going to make him and his family pay. Mama Rhodes is not getting the Universal title, because it is staying around the waist of his cousin Roman Reigns.
She is going to get a belt, but she will get The Rock’s belt. He’s going to beat her son with it, and whoop him like a dog until he bleeds. When the belt has his blood on it, and Roman Reigns has beaten him, he will walk over to her and hand this belt to her. And then he will whisper in her ear… “Michelle, what can I say except you’re welcome”. If you smell what the Final Boss is cooking.
#1. [Undisputed Tag Title Qualifier] Legado Del Fantasma’s Angel & Berto (w/ Elektra Lopez) vs. LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde (w/ Zelina Vega) – Winners: Legado Del Fantasma
LA Knight returns and talks to Kayla Braxton. He asks her to hand him the microphone so he can cook something up. Knight addresses AJ Styles, who told him to be humble. He is talking his language. He is standing right here, so why doesn’t he try to do that right now?
Another week where AJ Styles won’t show up. LA Knight spots the marks, and AJ is the biggest one walking. If he has any tingle in his loins to show up, then he should show up at WrestleMania. AJ says LA Knight thinks he owns the place, which isn’t right, but he will own his ass at WrestleMania. Styles blindsides Knight with a steel chair to the back. He accepts the challenge.
Logan Paul asks Nick Aldis what the plan is after what Randy Orton did last week, when he RKO’d KSI on the Prime logo. Aldis thinks it would set a great precedent if Logan Paul asks Randy Orton for an apology in person, but Paul says that it is his job, and he still hasn’t found him an opponent for WrestleMania.
Backstage, Jimmy Uso addresses Jey Uso’s challenge, which he readily accepts.
Logan Paul makes his way to the commentary table for the next match.
#2. Randy Orton vs. Grayson Waller (w/ Austin Theory) – Winner: Randy Orton
After the match, Theory attacks Orton from behind. Logan Paul enters the ring, and just as it looked like the heels will get their way, Kevin Owens shows up to scare Logan away. Theory eats a Stunner and an RKO back-to-back. Nick Aldis walks out to tell Logan Paul he will face Randy Orton and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania in a triple threat for the United States title.
Backstage, Dakota Kai says she is going to break Bayley tonight. No one should feel sorry for her because all of this is her doing. Damage CTRL runs this show.
#3. Santos Escobar (w/ Legado Del Fantasma) vs. Dragon Lee – Winner: Santos Escobar
Carlito made the save when the numbers got too much for Dragon Lee, but then he came under fire as well, so Rey Mysterio showed up to help out the LWO. The heels had to backtrack.
#4. [Undisputed Tag Title Qualifier] New Catch Republic vs. Pretty Deadly – Winners: New Catch Republic
#5. Dakota Kai (w/ Damage CTRL) vs. Bayley – Winner: Bayley by disqualification after Damage CTRL’s interference
Damage CTRL attacks Bayley, and while Naomi showed up to help her friend, the numbers game proved overwhelming. Fans chanted for Bianca Belair, but she did not appear.
