Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
1) What are your predictions for night 2 of NXT Halloween Havoc?
- Lola Vice beats Kelani Jordan to win the breakout tournament
- Bron Breakker beats Mr. Stone
- The Creed Brothers beat Angel and Humberto
- Dominik Mysterio retains the North American title over Nathan Frazer
- Chelsea Green and Piper Niven retain the women’s tag titles over Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne
- Tiffany Stratton beats Fallon Henley
- Ilja Dragunov retains the NXT Championship over Carmelo Hayes
2) Are there any other matches you expect to be added to the Crown Jewel card?
They’ve already checked off Roman Reigns, Logan Paul, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio and two women’s title matches. If they supposedly considered Brock Lesnar a waste for this show because of all that, I highly doubt we’re getting anything else added to this card.
That’s especially true when it comes to how there are already 7 matches on the lineup. WWE doesn’t typically have any more than that on a regular basis anymore, unless something is supposed to be a super quick match. I don’t anticipate any of these matches being rush jobs.
I will say, though, that if anything is added, I would think it would be a filler match featuring someone like Ivar or maybe we get another Judgment Day match like Finn Balor against Sami Zayn.
3) What do you think about Impact Wrestling going back to the TNA branding?
I mostly hate it, but I really don’t have too much of an investment in this. The name Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has always been a bad mouthful in my mind, and I think the TNA acronym branding is equally as bad, if not worse, than saying the full company name. I also have no fond memories of TNA from the past to be able to look at this as a nostalgic “return to greatness” like others do, as I’ve never been fond of what this company (in all its forms) has put out.
I look at this more as an attempt to keep switching stuff up to get people talking, rather than any actual positive progress. Just because you go by the TNA name doesn’t mean you can restore the roster to having AJ Styles in his prime and such. It’s going to be the same group of people, but with a new/old company name that sounds even more ridiculous, in my mind.
Maybe it’s all an insurance thing, where they have to change the company’s official name every few years to get tax breaks, and in another 2-3 years, it’ll go back to Global Force or something for all we know.
4) Heath Miller (formerly Heath Slater) is now a free agent. Where would you like to see him end up next?
I haven’t been following any of his work outside of WWE, to be honest. That shouldn’t be a surprise after what I just said about Impact Wrestling and TNA. But I used to think he was a versatile enough enhancement talent during his WWE career, and he had some funny segments here and there.
I do think he’s past the point in his career where he’ll be able to turn things around, become a serious top guy, and find himself in a Drew McIntyre spot. That’s not me trying to be mean, but just realistic. I think he’s pretty much locked into that enhancement talent spot, so wherever he goes, that’s what will happen. If he were to stay in TNA or go to NWA, he might be booked higher, but I still don’t think he’ll win some world title. Depending on how much money he’s offered to go anywhere, and whether he values “having fun” or “making money” in comparison to each other, I could see him being a bigger asset on the indies than anywhere else.
I don’t think we’ll see him in AEW in any means. What I could see happening, though, is WWE trying him out as a producer. That could be interesting.
5) Ric Flair has been added to Sting’s retirement storyline. In what way would you like to see AEW use him over the coming months heading to Revolution 2024?
I just cannot picture it being a good idea for Ric Flair to turn on Sting and try to see those two go up against each other in any fashion for his final match. Granted, if that’s what they want, it’s up to them, and they deserve to choose their retirements. But even if we got something like Flair teaming with Andrade against Sting and Darby Allin, it’s just not going to be a great contest.
With that being said…you can’t have Flair involved with Sting and NOT have them against each other in some fashion, right?! Wouldn’t it be a little odd if Flair just happens to be hanging around for the next few promos and matches, stealing some of the spotlight, and not doing anything at all?
So despite how I think it would be a mess, I do lean toward pairing them up as opposition just for the chaos of it, more so than the boring possibility that Flair merely stands next to Sting for a few weeks.
