As we reported earlier here on eWn, The Rock took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that Drew McIntyre has signed a new contract with WWE.
According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE started talks with McIntyre for a contract extension in March and the deal was just finalized. It is said that there was “a lot of back and forth negotiations” between both sides, with McIntyre being happy with the final outcome and how it will affect his family.
It was added that McIntyre is now under a new “multi-year, big-money” contract with WWE. All of the contracts signed by veteran Superstars are expected to be done the same way going forward.
Drew McIntyre’s previous contract had been scheduled to expire within the next month. WWE wanted to re-sign the Scottish Warrior as they head to Scotland for this year’s Clash at the Castle pay-per-view event. As you’d expect, he’ll be heavily used in the marketing materials to promote the show.
The new contract will also allow McIntyre and CM Punk to finish their story when the latter is ready to return.
