Notable Superstars Missing from the Card
Note: This is not a full list of everyone on the roster who is not scheduled for the show. It excludes some people who wouldn’t have normally been expected to appear on the show for some fashion, such as some jobbers, injured talent, etc.
Hit Row / Legado del Fantasma = NXT only typically has five, sometimes six matches on the card. With the rest of this filled up, the North American Championship match between Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Santos Escobar got the boot. I’m still excited to see it when it happens despite it not taking place here.
The Way / Dexter Lumis = It makes sense to me to keep The Way off this card. InDex plays out better on the television episodes, Candice LeRae is pregnant, Austin Theory is MIA wrestling dark matches and tryouts on the main roster and Johnny Gargano isn’t feuding with anyone.
Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan / Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa = Great performers. However, this is a TV feud and not something that should have taken up a spot on the card over what we’re getting.
Carmelo Hayes / Odyssey Jones = I’d make the argument the finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament should be on the card, but I can see why they’d put it on television instead. That way, they can treat it as a match with stakes to draw in viewers, if anyone tends to care about the newcomers like this beyond rare people like myself.
Kushida / Roderick Strong = This match was supposed to happen on NXT this week, but Kushida was medically disqualified from competition.
MSK / Imperium = This match DID take place this week. No need for a repeat on this card. If these events were as long as the main roster pay-per-views, you’d see it on there, guaranteed.
Tian Sha = Xia Li’s absence is curious. She’s participated on tryouts and could very well be coming up to the main roster if the total halt of Tian Sha is any indication. Boa’s been seen with Mei Ying, so why not Li? Strange.
Io Shirai and Zoey Stark = Way to keep playing hot potato with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and then settle on a team that doesn’t show up for weeks. Why did these two win the belts to begin with? Shirai should just be on the main roster.
