Adam Cole returned to in-ring action at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door by working a fatal 4-way bout for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. He hadn’t worked a match since before Double or Nothing as he has been dealing with a torn labrum (shoulder).
The match ended with Jay White pinning Cole after dropping Kazuchika Okada with a Blade Runner. It was reported that Cole was hurt early in the bout.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cole suffered what was believed to be a ‘very serious’ concussion.
Meltzer added, “It’s probably best to fix the torn labrum with surgery, or at least with a lot of rehab, but that also would mean a long time out, and, by the fact he was wrestling on it, that means he’s mentally wanting to continue. But it’s better to get it fixed now if possible.”
Cole is just one of many AEW stars currently dealing with injuries as the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Scorpio Sky are just some of the names out of action.
