AEW and Japanese company DDT Pro-Wrestling officially started a working partnership.

DDT posted a video in which AEW’s Vice President of talent relations Christopher Daniels explained that the two promotions will collaborate with the goal of bringing DDT’s wrestlers to AEW and showcase them to the American audience.

DDT is one of the main companies in Japan and includes alumni such as Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi. It is part of the big group “CyberFight” which also includes Pro Wrestling Noah, Ganbare Pro-Wrestling and joshi promotion Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, with the latter having AEW signee Yuka Sakazaki as well as Maki Itoh.

Current KO-D Openweight Champion (DDT’s top title) Konosuke Takeshita appeared on two episodes of Dark: Elevation and The House Always Wins back in April 2021.

It remains unclear if this new business deal will cause problems to All Elite Wrestling’s relationship with NJPW, although many wrestlers like Jon Moxley could appear for New Japan even before the “forbidden door” concept. CyberFight’s Noah held a collaborative Wrestle Kingdom with NJPW but the event was reportedly ridden with backstage politics.

Some All Elite Wrestling stars had previously filmed content for DDT’s Iron Heavymetalweight Championship, as Joey Janela, Britt Baker, Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt, Orange Cassidy, Dean Malenko and The Young Bucks’ have all “won” DDT’s 24/7 rules championship.
