On a recent edition of his “What Happened When” podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone discussed Sting’s evolution as a performer throughout his career.

Schiavone praised The Icon’s ability to change with the times and keep himself relevant.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On Sting’s evolution: “I think if you stop and think about it, Sting realized how wrestling has changed through the years and he wanted to change with it, and he did. That’s one of the reasons he became such the icon that he is.”

On Sting being underrated as a wrestler: “Sting could do a lot of things, he was more than just a guy with face paint and a lot of colors that could beat his chest and bring out the excitement of the fans and they drew to that. He was a guy that could actually work a good match. I think you’ve got to credit Ric Flair with that. I think anybody that had any run with Ric Flair learned how to work.”

Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Team match, serving as Sting’s retirement match, took place in the main event of the AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view event, with the babyfaces retaining the AEW Tag Team Titles.

In other news, Paul Walter Hauser will face Matt Cardona at Wrestling REVOLVER’s “Ready Or Not” event, and the Cobra Kai cast recently expressed their support for the Hollywood actor.

The two will face off this weekend in Clive, Iowa, and REVOLVER shared a video of the cast airing their opinions of Cardona.

You can check out some of the reactions below:

William Zabka: “Matt Cardona? Oh yeah, isn’t he the indie geek? What is his finishing move, calling his mother?”

Ralph Macchio: “Matt Cardona? The t-shirt guy? Yeah, no, I’m going all in on Hauser.”

Martin Kove: “Matt Cardona? Wouldn’t last five minutes in my dojo.”

Hauser then said, “Matt Cardona, how do you like that? One of your favorite shows, Cobra Kai. One of your favorite movies, The Karate Kid. Here I am, getting the approval of all of your heroes. You see, there’s a difference between in business for yourself and being a team player. You, Matt Cardona, are in this clearly for yourself. I am an actor, but rest assured, I am part of a stable everytime I show up. I am a team player, I support my fellow actors and crew, and I’m not just in it for me, I am in it for we. So, on March 16 in Clive, Iowa, just know that what I lack in experience, I gain in we. Don’t know what that means, but you’re gonna find out. Bye, indie di*k.”
