There has been some concern regarding the fans turning on Cody Rhodes because of how over Sami Zayn is right now after he separated from The Bloodline at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
Zayn will challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event. Reigns is also scheduled to defend his title against Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE felt like they needed to do the highly praised segment with Rhodes and Paul Heyman on Monday’s RAW because they were well aware of how over the Zayn storyline is right now.
He said WWE felt it “imperative not to have this WrestleMania main event angle feel secondary.”
