As Craig noted earlier here on eWrestlingNews.com, there are some rumors floating around that WWE may be making some changes to the Slammy Awards next year. As you saw on last week’s Slammy Awards edition of RAW, big names such as Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, The Rock, John Cena, Sting and The Undertaker all won awards but none of those names were there live to accept their awards. With that being said, many felt that it gave off the impression that the awards aren’t anything “special” or important enough for big names to show up at.

Craig also noted that one of the changes being discussed is to have fans vote a week in advance so WWE’s creative team knows ahead of time who will be winning and can contact those names to appear live or record pre-taped promos in advance. The other idea is to hold the Slammys during WrestleMania week when many of the top names are in town for various events anyways. The problem with that is that it takes away from the build to and/or aftermath of WrestleMania.

For those wondering, the fan voting for this year’s awards was 100% legitimate.
