According to sources, the likely opponent for John Cena at the WWE WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event is Lars Sullivan. As seen on RAW and SmackDown! Live in recent weeks, WWE has been heavily promoting Sullivan’s main roster debut.
In other Lars Sullivan news, there were several reports that he was set to make his main roster debut this past Monday during a dark match prior to RAW. This is similar to what EC3 and Lacey Evans did on WWE Main Event. Despite appearing on Main Event, they are still headed to RAW and SmackDown Live! in the coming weeks. Their appearances on WWE Main Event were simply done to “give them a feel for how live crowds react at TV tapings”. In regards to Sullivan, he reportedly suffered an anxiety attack and was pulled from his scheduled RAW dark match on Monday. He was then scheduled for a dark match in Jacksonville, FL on Tuesday prior to the SmackDown! Live TV tapings, but never appeared and flew home to Colorado.
It is believed that WWE is now much more sensitive to mental health issues ever since Mauro Ranallo went public about his bipolar disorder.
UPDATE: The WrestleVotes Twitter account tweeted the following earlier today:
Following up on this story with new details;, source tells us Lars Sullivan did not go home from TV this week, he was never in either Orlando or Jacksonville. Was scheduled to be, and just didn’t arrive. No word on what the reaction was just yet. https://t.co/07WLmvjWHt
