Current WWE World Heavyweight Championship Dean Ambrose is set to defend his title against AJ Styles in the main event of Smackdown’s exclusive PPV, Backlash, tonight. According to Ringside News, there is said to be much backstage speculation that AJ Styles will be the winner of the match. WWE reportedly had plans to give AJ a world title run, but Roman Reigns’ Wellness Policy violation shifted a lot of the plans for the top guys in the company.
It’s also said that some backstage don’t like Dean Ambrose being the face of Smackdown. As many of you know, Ambrose picked up some heat from backstage officials for calling out WWE’s booking on his podcast with Stone Cold. Smackdown also just scored their lowest rating since the brand split last week.
