Fightful Select reports that Colt Cabana is still with All Elite Wrestling despite there initially being plans for the star to be released before several talents spoke up for him. It’s said that there was a bit of an “uproar” backstage when word began to go around that Cabana’s AEW deal would not be renewed once it expired.
Some believe that Cabana’s lack of renewal came from his issues with CM Punk. However, that was dismissed when the Dark Order got the focus taken off of them and stable members Alan Angels and Stu Grayson did not get their contracts renewed.
Cabana is very popular backstage and several people expressed displeasure with the possibility of him being cut, speaking up for him, and he then ended up working ROH Supercard of Honor. It’s also said that Cabana is almost never at AEW’s TV tapings. His last match was a tag team match defeat alongside Angels against The Butcher and The Blade on a March 8 episode of AEW Dark.
