We previously reported that some AEW wrestlers would be missing from upcoming episodes of AEW Dynamite. Included in that group are FTR, who will be absent from tomorrow night’s AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash. FTR will be in Mexico, defending their AAA Tag Team Championships against Dragon Lee and Dralistico.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have held the AAA belts for over a year now. They initially won the AAA tag team titles by defeating Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero on a special October 2021 edition of AEW Dynamite. FTR wrestled that match as Las Super Ranas, a luchador tag team in green body suits.
However, a new report from Fightful suggests that FTR could be coming back to the States without their belts. Talent within AAA believe that FTR will be dropping the straps sooner rather than later. Since FTR will be performing tomorrow night, it is not a stretch to think that they could be losing the titles to Lee and Dralistico.
No creative plans for the tag titles have been confirmed for tomorrow night’s show. The AAA card will also include AEW stars Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti, the reigning AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions. They will be defending their titles in a three-way match that also includes Komander & Sexy Star and Lady Shani & Octagon, Jr.
