Randy Orton and CM Punk both made their WWE TV returns at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023, and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier shared his thoughts on the Second City Saint taking the spotlight away from The Viper.

On a recent edition of “The MMA Hour” podcast, Cormier discussed the conclusion of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023, noting that while he enjoyed Punk’s surprise return, he felt bad for Orton.

He said, “The thing about wrestling today is, if you’re on the internet at all, everyone is guessing [Punk might return]. It was in Chicago, so you thought if there was a time, maybe. I liked it, but if you’re Randy Orton, you’re pissed off, right? Randy Orton comes out, muscles popping. Big chest, big shoulders, big muscles, and then ‘Look in my eyes. Oh, Randy Orton is back; let’s put him back in a tag team with Matt Riddle because now we’re all talking about CM Punk.’”

Cormier also compared Punk’s return to UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz making his UFC comeback. Ortiz has had multiple falling-outs with the UFC and its President Dana White in the past.

He said, “Tito Ortiz coming back because right now, Tito Ortiz doesn’t really come around at all…There’s not much mention made of him. He was like one of the biggest stars in the early days… Probably like a Tito Ortiz type of guy, a guy that left on bad terms.”
