Several years ago, former WWE Champion CM Punk opted to leave WWE in favor of trying his hand at mixed martial arts (MMA). Punk signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and has since competed in two professional fights. He lost his first bout in 2016 via first-round submission.

Last year, he went all three rounds with former Houston Golden Gloves winner Mike Jackson but was again defeated via lopsided unanimous decision. For the most part, many MMA and professional wrestling fans have viewed Punk’s fighting career as a joke.

But some still give credit where credit is due, acknowledging it took guts to step into the cage and participate in the most physically taxing sport in the world. However, the lack of respect for Punk’s skills inside the cage has prompted some interesting callouts. The latest coming from former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, actor, and current indy professional wrestler David Arquette.

Speaking to TMZ Sports recently, Arquette was asked if he’d step into the cage to fight Punk in the UFC. Arquette said he’d fight Punk “any f*cking time,” before suggesting an MMA/professional wrestling hybrid bout:

“MMA? CM Punk did that. Yo, CM Punk if you want to fight, I’m ready bro. Any f*cking time. Hell, yes. Whatever the hell he wants. Why don’t we do an Octagon – f*cking – wrestling ring match. Everything! Let’s go fight all over the city.”

Punk would likely never accept a fight with anyone even remotely related to the professional wrestling world. It’s also likely he’s released from his UFC contract after back-to-back losses. It will be interesting to see if Punk’s days of fighting in MMA are over. Check out Arquette’s interview with TMZ here:
