In 2009, Edge attacked Kofi Kingston during his entrance for the Elimination Chamber match, taking his spot in the chamber and leaving Kofi on a stretcher. Edge had lost his own Elimination Chamber match earlier that night, and went on to claim Kofi’s spot in the marquee matchup.
Edge came face to face with an angry Rey Mysterio when he entered the match. Mr. 619 was still furious at Edge’s attack on Kingston. Despite this, The Rated R Superstar managed to survive the competition and eliminated Mysterio to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Kofi has since commented on the incident, noting that it ultimately led to him becoming a better performer.
Ahead of the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event this Saturday, Kingston retweeted a screenshot of tweets by a fan reflecting on the moment, tagging Edge with “Never forget…”
The WWE Hall of Famer replied with the following,
“Kofi…I mean… ok, I got nothin”
