Eric Bischoff was shocked to see Stephanie McMahon part ways with WWE in early 2023 following the also-shocking return of Vince McMahon.
After Vince strong-armed his way back into WWE on January 6, 2023, Stephanie stepped down from her roles with the company to spend more time with her family.
On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff spoke about his fellow former General Manager and was surprised to see her go. He said,
“I really was [surprised]. I can’t quite put my finger on why. It’s just an overall assumption on my part that she would’ve never left. I know it’s a publicly-held company and, especially now that they’ve merged, it’s a different company altogether.
“The fact that a powerful, attractive, super intelligent, accomplished young woman is the head of a publicly-held sports entertainment company — I don’t think you could create a better scenario than that. To see her walk away from it, with really no explanation other than she wanted to spend more time with family, which is fine — I think that’s a question, right? Is that really it?”
Stephanie had stepped down from WWE in 2022 but returned shortly after her father stepped down from his role due to the hush-money investigation.
After Vince McMahon retired in July 2022, Stephanie was appointed Chairwoman of WWE and co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.
