Cody Rhodes won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match on Saturday night in San Antonio, TX. Rhodes entered the match at #30 and eliminated GUNTHER to win the annual over-the-top-rope extravaganza.

While GUNTHER failed to win the Royal Rumble match, his valiant efforts didn’t go in vain. The Ring General entered the match at #1 and became the ultimate Iron Man, lasting longer than any Superstar in the history of a traditional Royal Rumble match. He tied Rhodes for the most eliminations in the match (five) and lasted in the ring for 71 minutes. GUNTHER surpassed the 17-year-old record set by Rey Mysterio’s 62-minute match-winning performance during the 2006 Royal Rumble.

In a post-match backstage interview, GUNTHER addressed his record-breaking performance in the Men’s Rumble match. The reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion said,

“How I feel? It was again up to me to step up and take responsibility to restore the honor of our precious sport. The whole way through, they put the biggest obstacles in my way. The whole through, I’ve been there, and at the end, it was an error on my behalf, and I have to blame me for that and nobody else. But like we always do in Imperium, when we fall, we get back up because we are driven by a greater good. Week after week, we drive all the way around the country to represent this sport the way it’s supposed to be. We are Imperium, and to us the mat is sacred!”
