IWTV recently filed a lawsuit against GCW for breach of contract. The company is claiming that it has suffered over a half a million dollars in damages.

GCW announced earlier this year that the company was “formally requesting to be released from our IWTV contract.” At the time, GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale said their agreement with IWTV wasn’t sustainable and demanded changes. Lauderdale also confirmed that the issues involved a dispute over ownership of GCW’s master tapes.

Since that dispute with IWTV, GCW has been airing on FITE TV. According to a report from the Times Leader, IWTV has filed their lawsuit due to this. IWTV is claiming that they had exclusive rights to hold pay-per-view events for GCW, but that “On Dec. 1, 2020, (GCW) informed (IWTV) to breach the distribution agreement by producing and live streaming (GCW’s) pay-per-view events through an alternate platform.”

GCW has heled 36 events between December 5th and May 15th. IWTV states that all of those events are “a violation of the signed distribution agreement between the parties.” When IWTV informed GCW that they were breaching their contract, the company didn’t care and continued to run events anyways.

IWTV wants the full amount of revenue brought in by the last 36 GCW shows, saying in the lawsuit that “it is believed the damages are in excess of $500,000.”

As of this writing, GCW has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
