Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts may be retired from the ring, but the WWE Hall of Famer can still hit a DDT when needed.
During the recent Battle of the Belts special episode of AEW programming, Roberts nearly hit a DDT on Orange Cassidy but was stopped by Lance Archer.
While Roberts didn’t hit his iconic move then, he did hit the DDT during an appearance for the independent promotion Southern Honor Wrestling and discussed this on his “Snake Pit” podcast. He said,
“I’m not dead yet. I can still do things if I want to. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment things, you know? I just decided I wanted to do it, ’cause I knew I could. But it’s been so long, you know? Just having fun, doing a buddy of mine a favor down at SHW [Southern Honor Wrestling].”
The DDT got its name from Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, a chemical compound often used in pesticides that would ward off snakes.
