Kazuchika Okada will be competing at NJPW’s Rumble on 44th Street event tomorrow night in New York City. Okada will be teaming with AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston to take on the Bullet Club team of IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White and Juice Robinson. It’s not the first time this year that AEW and NJPW stars have shared the ring – the two promotions came together for the “Forbidden Door” pay-per-view that took place back in June.

In anticipation of tomorrow night’s event, The Rainmaker sat down with Sports Illustrated. He spoke about AEW, the next Forbidden Door show, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On not meeting Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door: “I was hoping to meet Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door, but unfortunately that couldn’t happen. Since we couldn’t talk backstage, I’m happy to meet him in the ring next time.”

Discussing AEW: “AEW is a great promotion, I definitely felt that in my time there. There are places where they win out over NJPW, and areas where New Japan is superior as well. I think both sides came away with something to learn and work on, and I’d love to have another event with those lessons learned. Last time was in the U.S., so let’s have it in Japan next time.”

Kazuchika Okada and Jay White will clash for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th, 2023.
