WWE may have wanted Kurt Angle to manage Matt Riddle, but the promotion wasn’t willing to pay Angle enough to make it worth his time.
On a recent edition of his “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, the Olympian explained why he ultimately said no to the idea of managing Matt Riddle. He said,
“The money was not good. They didn’t want to give me that much money and it was like, ‘Okay. I would love to manage Matt, but you got to give me a little bit more money than that.’”
Angle was released by WWE in 2020 but officiated the NXT Fight Pit match between Riddle and Timothy Thatcher. He has made appearances for WWE ever since.
