On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reviewed last night’s Slammiversary XVII pay-per-view from IMPACT Wrestling.
While discussing the intergender match between Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard that main evented, Dave provided the following new details surrounding the match and the reason the result was what it was.
Dave said that Sami was always penciled to win the match as IMPACT officials feared putting Tessa over in a match like this would give her Roman Reigns-like heat. Dave also said that, obviously, the intention was to make Tessa Blanchard look very strong.
They would go on to insist that there was no truth to the online rumors that Sami just refused to lay down for Tessa.
