As we had previously reported here at eWrestlingNews (see link below), there was a recent outbreak of COVID-19 among the wrestlers of NXT, which was believed to have started after an NXT talent threw a party that was attended by other trainees.

Backstage Update On The Recent NXT COVID-19 Outbreak, Concern Backstage

In a report provided by Fightful Select, prior to that outbreak, there had been talks of a new NXT program that was, at one time, called “NXT Underground”. The show was said to be completely different from the new RAW Underground concept. It seems it would have been a way to feature talent not otherwise included on NXT, as unused talent and recent EVOLVE signings were planned to be a part of it.

The show was in the planning stages last month and the general idea was floated around last year. There were people who weren’t in favor of the idea, so it was put on hold. A pilot was shot at the Performance Center in 2019.
