Steve Austin returned to in-ring action at last year’s WrestleMania 38 pay-per-view event in Arlington, Texas against Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match. While the bout was well-received by fans, a new Fightful Select report details Austin’s preparation for the encounter.
The report states that both Austin and Vince McMahon were very particular about working out the details of the match and making sure that Austin was physically ready for it.
The report also notes that McMahon and Drew Gulak flew to Austin’s ranch in Texas so that Gulak could practice with the veteran. When Austin called out spots with Gulak in character, Gulak went along with it, which resulted in the pair working a match together.
Austin beat Owens by pinfall during WrestleMania 38 (Night One), on April 2, 2022.
