Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship was originally pencilled in for the main event of the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV).
The emphasis, of course, was going to be on Alexa Bliss cashing in her MITB briefcase and winning the RAW Women’s Title. They also noted that media were told MITB would end around 10:30 P.M. EST, with some cushion in case of an overrun to about 11:00 P.M. Typically WWE only wants “The Big Four” – Rumble Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series – to be able to run later than 11:00 PM.
It was also noted that WWE considered it a risk to main event MITB with Rousey given it was her first singles match and her second televised match ever. After seeing her performance, however, they’re much more comfortable having her in a main event role.
