According to a new report from PWInsider, Shane McMahon is set to be in town for WrestleMania weekend, with WWE flying him in. It should be noted though, as of the time of this writing there is no word on if McMahon will be appearing on WrestleMania 38 itself.
If McMahon does appear on WWE TV over the weekend, it will be the first time he has been seen since January’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. It was reported at the time that McMahon’s in-ring efforts at the event were to set up potential matches with either Austin Theory or Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. But, neither of these matches were seen as a guarantee at the time.
However, as well as his in-ring efforts McMahon also served as a producer for the men’s Royal Rumble match. After the match received a large amount of backlash, McMahon took the brunt of the criticism. Additionally, WWE sources at the time stated that McMahon was “greatly preoccupied” with his own role in the match and rubbed people the wrong way. Following this, Shane McMahon was reportedly removed from WWE’s creative plans going forward.
